Find your adventure in the powder of the Colorado Western Slope on one of our 800cc mountain sleds. These epic machines are sure to put a smile on your face. We offer both Polaris and Arctic Cat sleds with track lengths from 153"-165". You will be assigned a specific machine upon arrival.

Here at GRIT, we have a passion for sharing our passion. Someday soon, we would like to offer options to less experienced riders in order to share the joys of our sport. However, now is not that time. These sleds are serious machines with serious power. They will bite you if you don’t have the proper experience. That’s why we REQUIRE prior experience on a powder sled to rent our units. Not only is this for the safety of these very expensive machines, it is also for the safety of the rider. Please respect and be realistic when evaluating yourself as a rider. We want to ensure that everyone has an awesome time out there!

When renting a sled, you will be required to wear a helmet. These are serious machines that require serious riders. If you don’t have a helmet, or you don’t want to bring yours with you, we will have multiple sizes available to rent. Helmet rentals are $40/day. These are motocross style helmets, so you will want to bring goggles or some sort of glasses to protect your eyes while riding.

Please note: All renters 21+ must have a valid drivers license to rent. Renters aged 16+ may rent if accompanied by a 21+ year old rider.

All riders must have a valid proof of medical insurance upon arrival. We will take photos of both your medical insurance proof and valid drivers license to keep on file.

Only one rider per sled. Due to insurance purposes, only one person is allowed to ride the sled. This means you cannot rent one sled and take turns riding. The person who's name is on the rental is 100% liable for anything that happens while the sled is in their possession.

If you are renting a trailer, you will need proof of valid car insurance upon arrival.

All of our machines are available for single or multi day rentals.

Deadline for booking is 3:00pm MST the day prior.

Single day rentals are a 8 hour duration with a morning start and afternoon finish. Pickup is at 8:30am and drop off is at 4:30pm. Please expect to arrive 30 minutes early to finish up your paperwork and go through orientation.

Multi day rentals will be scheduled to be picked up at 8:30am on the first day and be scheduled to return at 4:30pm on the final day. Of course, we are happy to accommodate other time slots if we can. Please call to discuss other possible times if needed.

Drop offs are available within a certain radius of Montrose, CO. See “Trail Drop Off” section for more information.

As the renter, YOU are 100% responsible for the machines in your possession as soon as you leave the shop/trail drop off location. This means any damage, theft, or recovery is on you. If you get stuck and we have to come get you from anywhere other than the designated pickup/drop off location there will be a fee of $100 per hour per person that it takes to come and get you. So please ride aware and responsibly.

Of course, if there is clearly a mechanical failure that was not caused by the renter, we will work out a solution. This is at the discretion of GRIT Motorsports. Again, our goal is for everyone to have fun, and that is the mindset that goes into making those tough calls.

If damage occurs, we will review the cost of the damaged part(s) when the sled is returned and that amount will be withheld from the damage deposit. If the damage to the sled exceeds the deposit amount, the difference will be charged to the card.

Sleds are to be returned washed and free of any mud/dirt/debris from the day. A cleaning fee of $50.00 will be charged if machines are returned dirty. A $50.00 cleaning fee will automatically be applied to sleds that are being picked up/dropped off at a trail head. We suggest using the Main Street Car Wash at:

It is right down the road from the shop, easy to use, and a reasonable price.

We advise that all customers bring a Backpack, plenty of Water, Goggles or some sort of eyewear, Snow Jacket and Pants, Gloves, Snow Boots, Sunscreen, Avalanche Beacon, a Probe, Snacks, and some sort of Lunch to eat while out riding.

Come directly to our location! There is no riding straight from the shop, so you will either need a pickup truck, your own trailer, or a vehicle with a 2" ball hitch. If you are hauling with a pickup or have your own trailer, we will have tie downs included for you to use. If you're interested in renting our 2 place trailer, it is an additional $75 per day and includes straps as well as a 2"" ball if needed. Customers who opt for pick-up and plan to tow with a rented trailer will need proof of valid auto insurance.

We want to be sure that everyone who wants to get out and ride, has the opportunity to get out and ride. That’s why we offer a trail drop off/pick up option. If you’re flying into town or you don’t want to haul your own machines all the way out here, we offer the ability to meet you at Black Mesa Lodge or wherever you might be staying to drop off our sleds.

Drop offs to Black Mesa Lodge or to a private house (Air BnB) within a 30 minute radius of our shop are available for an additional $50.00. Drop offs will also have a cleaning fee of $50.00 per machine automatically added onto the booking cost.

We can accommodate drop offs outside of the 30 minute radius for an additional charge, but only when renting for multiple days. Please call to discuss these accommodations before booking.

We want to be as transparent as possible with costs. Here’s a breakdown of our prices:

• $325 per unit to rent for a single day (7 hrs).

• $300 per unit per day if renting for more than 2 days.

• $1000 hold on credit card per snowmobile during rental duration. Hold will be released 72hrs after rental period at the latest.

• $75 per day to rent a trailer to haul sleds.

• $40 per day to rent a helmet.

• $50 if you want units delivered/picked from Black Mesa Lodge or private residence within 30 minutes of Montrose (+$50 cleaning fee).

• $50 cleaning fee if machine isn’t washed before returning.

• $100 per hour per person if trail recovery is needed.

Reservations can be canceled by contacting us directly at our phone or email. We are happy to provide a voucher to reschedule within the next 6 months as we understand things happen. If you choose to cancel your booking, we require a 48 hour notice. All bookings canceled within the 48 hour window will forfeit the full booking price, including bookings made within the 48 hour window. Any bookings canceled with more than 48 hours notice will receive a 75% refund of the booking cost. Please understand that when you book, the machines are no longer available to be rented by other customers. That is why we are strict with our refund policies. No shows or poor communication regarding a cancellation will forfeit the entire booking cost.
